Sedgemoor District Council are responsible for the vast majority of all planning decisions within the Civil Parish of East Brent.
The District Council is required to advise The Parish Council of all planning applications within the parish.
Somerset County Council equally can consult on any planning application as they wish, but the District Council will have the final say on most types of planning application. The County Council will determine certain types of strategic planning, such as major transport links, minerals and waste. The County Council also deals with planning matters that relate to their own developments, such as schools, libraries and social care developments.
The Parish Council discuss all planning applications within the civil parish and make a recommendation to The District Council (or County Council if applicable).
NOTE: The recommendations of The Parish Council are non binding upon the District or County Councils.
