Local Flooding

Due to the high rainfall of last Year, which led to some flooding in East Brent village, several flooding relief schemes have been put forward.

The one that the Somerset Drainage Boards Consortium has decided will give the most benefit, is one to divert the main viewed rhyne that runs alongside Brent Road at Burton Row, to join the Lympsham system.

This work is scheduled to take place before the Autumn of 2013.

As a further result of the flooding event, the Parish Council has purchased two large containers which contain sand, empty sandbags and shovels with which to fill them.

These bins are situated on the small car park adjacent to the Church Office towards the top of Church Street. Affixed to the lids of the containers are the contact details of the Parish Council Emergency Planning Officer.

THIS SAND AND BAGS ARE TO BE USED FOR FLOODING EMERGENCIES ONLY

Update May 2015

As a result  of that work being completed there has been no further flooding.
