East Brent Parish Council Recommend refusal of the application

The Parish Council objects to the proposals, submitted by Broadview Energy Limited for the erection of four wind turbines, access tracks, hardstanding areas, anemometry mast, transformers/switchgear kiosks, control building, cabling and temporary construction compound.

It is the view of the Parish Council that this proposal is contrary to paragraphs 6.40 & 6.57 of the Sedgemoor Landscape Assessment and Countryside Design Summary.  It will be most detrimental to the Wildlife in the geographical area.  Other factors which the Parish Council considered to be particularly detrimental to the welbeing of the area are set out below.

On 6th August 2012 a full meeting of the Council unanimously agreed to reject the Proposal of Broadview Energy Limited.  The Parish Council recommended to Sedgemoor District Council that this planning application be refused.

Sedgemoor District Council Refuse the application

On 8 April 2013, Sedgemoor District Council Refused the application due to its scale and height would be an unacceptable visual intrusion and also as  the application site is situated between internationally designated sites at the Severn Estuary and the Somerset Levels and Moors.  See Sedgmoor's reasons for refusal in full below.
